A veteran Bitcoin developer loses about $3.3 million in Bitcoin

Luke Dashjr, a core developer on the Bitcoin network, claims his wallet was hacked just before the New Year.

Luke claims to have lost all of his BTC, which is about 200 BTC or $3.3 million at current market prices.

He tweeted, “My PGP key was compromised, and at least many of my bitcoins were stolen. I have no idea how. Help please.”

Although it has not yet been confirmed what exactly happened, many believe that the server Luke was using was hacked to steal data from him, including the private keys to his Bitcoin wallet.

Some even speculated that the incident might be a “boating accident”, which is a joke about people trying to avoid paying taxes by claiming they lost all their BTC in a “tragic boating accident”.
