FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has reportedly been arrested by the Bahamas police after the US government announced it had filed criminal charges.

In a press statement explaining the arrest, the Attorney General of the Bahamas, Ryan Pinder, stated: “As a result of the notice received as well as in light of the information it contains, it seemed appropriate for the Attorney General to request SBF’s arrest and hold him in custody under our country’s extradition law.

Upon submission of an official request for extradition, the Bahamas intends to process it immediately, in accordance with the laws of the Bahamas and according to the treaty obligations towards the United States.”
